JH004 Suspension Failures

Following a spate of issues with the rear suspension of some of the customer JH004 last weekend, Leastone are compelled to issue the following statement.

Three customer JH004’s suffered suspension failures over the course of the race weekend, with various reasons contributing. While the satellite cars of KERS motorsport suffered no such issues, failure of substandard rod ends, tracking adjusters and damaged pick up mounts played havoc with the rear suspension of the customer’s cars.

For instance, Ray Moore’s Friday testing was affected when a poor quality rod end failed on the suspension push rod but once issued with the correct spec, the car went on to take pole and win Saturdays race. Damian Murphy suffered trailing arm failures, but on inspection, the pick-up points were slightly bent resulting in additional loads being placed on the arm. Damian also suffered a tracking adjuster failure, which was not standard Leastone issue. Following an inspection, the class scrutineer deemed himself happy with the standard of Leastone manufactured parts and concurred with Leastones explanation for the failures.

When asked of the problems, Paul Heavey had the following to say; ‘With the rear set up of the JH004, we suffered some issues during testing of the prototype, but once some small modifications were made, we have never had a problem. Even with the UK car, where corner loads are far higher, we haven’t had a failure. We will work hard with the boys to ensure the correct spec equipment is used which will stop the problems we have witnessed this weekend.’
